Today in science class, we had a shortened period becuase of a Croatian field trip. However when we got back, Ms. D continued to show us a powerpoint of the two comets Halley and Hale-Bopp. The powerpoit explained their revolution and when they will reach Earth again. We also were reminded about the five parts of a comet.
The five parts of a comet are:
1.Nucleus-middle part which is composed of gasses, dirt, and ice
2.Dust tail- composes of dust
3. Ion tail- different color, heating up and exciting gasses
4. Coma- the gasses around the nucleus. They cause the shine
5. Hydrogen cloud- the gasses that are released and left behind
Now a little bit about the two comets Hale-Bopp and Halley.
Comet Halley:
-It is the most famous comet in history
-It proved Edmund Halley's math was correct becuase the comet came back to Earth
-It originates from the Oort Cloud
-It is now currently located in the Kuiper Belt
-The revolution is 76 Earth years (it last came in 1986 and it will come back again in 2061)
-It is the same age as the Sun (4.5 billion years old)
Comet Hale-Bopp:
-It was discovered in July 23, 1995
-Two people discovered it independently Alan Hale and Thomas Bopp
-It is 4.5 billion years old
-The diameter of the nucleus is 40-80 kilometers
-Its revolution around the Sun takes 2,392 Earth years

After talking about the comets, we continued our forum and concluded it. We talked about Mars, Jupiter, and Neptune. Not having much time left, we quickly reviewed the names of the celestial bodies and their symbols'. We were told that there is a review session on Wednesday during lunch if you want to come.
REMEMBER, TOMMOROW WE HAVE A CELESTIAL BODIES OPEN NOTE TEST! REMEMBER TO COME PREPARED! The test will be timed so organize your stuff well.

The next scribe is German.

  1. Hey Arnie,

I liked your scribe post very much and the color choice is very good. The videos are also interesting and the fact about the comments are great. I would like to point out just two things. First of all, when you said what the commet is composed of at the second thing you said "composes" instead of "composed" and the other thing is that gases at plural is "gases" not "gasses". That's it, very good job!

  2. Arnie, this was a detailed blog post, but you really need to check up on your spelling and grammar. The second link to You tube was very interesting, but the first was just a blurry bunch of pictures. All in all, this blog post was interesting, but lacked some organization.

  3. Hello there Arnie :)

Concluding everything that I have read from your post, I can say that it is good, but it is not the best thing you could have done, knowing your knowledge skills. Well, let's put this conclusion aside, and let's talk about the positives of your post! Overall, good job in the layout. Unfortunately, I would give you 9 out of 10 due to the amount of pictures you have posted. The reader would be more interested in reading if there would be some. The font color is great, simple but spicy. Your "A" in English is not mistaking itself - you're good at grammar :) Scientific relation is well set too, but the structure is the only serious problem you have. Instead of writing all the info from the class right on your post, I would have made a document, having all of that info there. I mean, people can read it on other document too. On your place, I would talk more about the class in the post. I know, we haven't actually did a lot of things during that class, but you could have gone more into the details. Concluding, good job!

P.S. Don't think that I hate you or something by going too much into critisizing, I just want you to be better even more next time :)

    Severyn :)

  4. Arnie it was quite a good scribe post, however you could have expanded more about the comets, and researched a bit more about them, as there is very little information ( even though, i realise, it was a short class). Good use of font and color, however you could add some pictures and perhaps how this relates to our modern-day life. Maybe some links that are not youtube would also help. Overall a very good job.

  5. Arnie ths was a very nice blog post. It was nice that you wxplaid why you had a shorten class. The color of red was a bit hard to read on the green background. Though it was nice that you put diferent colors on your blog post. It was nice that you explaind the coment Halley. Overall it was a good post.

  6. Great Job Arnie :D

I really liked it that you reminded me when the comet Halley will be visible for us (2061) hope we will all get to see it when it arrives back. I liked it that you wrote all the parts of a comet and the other information about Halley and Hale – Bopp. For the next time I would suggest you to add some pictures of the comets or the planets that we talked about in class.

  7. Good post only you could remove the spaces in the end and also try to add spaces between section so it is easier to read. Otherwise good work!

  8. Arnie - nice work overall on your post, although you haven't covered enough of what we did in class. You should have given some details about what we discussed concerning Jupiter, Mars and Neptune. More pictures throughout would have "spiced" up this entry. You did cover the two comets well, although the parts could be explained more fully. The links about the comets were okay, but be careful of linking to "fuzzy" videos as people will not watch the entire thing. Hyperlinking them made them easier to get to. Finally, you do not have a real-life relationship here, which was the newest requirement for blogging in the fourth quarter. You do have a good use of color to separate different topics, which looks nice. ~ Ms. D.
